How To Onboard a New Customer (For Partners)

This article describes how to set up a new customer as an Inlet partner.

To have a complete Inlet-solution, a customer needs to be onboarded to a third-party software system, and complete the setup of any locks that will be accessed by users. When both parts are properly configured, Inlet is able to integrate them and automate the user journey. After testing, the complete solution is ready for use.

NOTE: Inlet does not sell or install locks. Nor do we sell booking solutions or other user-facing software.
Inlet serves as an "invisible" integrator that connects locks and access control systems to third-party software systems.

Please follow these steps to onboard a new customer with Inlet

  1. Share the following article with the customer and the hardware installer.

It will help them understand the factors that go into choosing a suitable lock or access control system for use with Inlet and partners.
The article is also useful for understanding if an existing lock or access control system will support the desired user journey.

How To Choose A Suitable Lock or Access Control System

For sauna customers, please see the article How to set up a sauna installation with INLET.

  2. Share the list of setup guides with the customer and hardware installer.

When the customer has chosen a lock system, you or the customer must send the list of setup guides to their hardware installer.

Each lock system has it's own set-up guide available in this knowledge base. The setup guide specifies how to configure the lock system, as well as the network settings, to make the locks work with Inlet.

Only when the lock system is set up correctly will Inlet be able to connect to the locks. To do this, we must receive some information from the hardware installer after installation is finished. The information we need is described in the setup guide for each system, and must be sent to support@inlet.no

Access the list of setup guides here.

  3. Fill out the Inlet Onboarding Form.

Fill out the onboarding form to notify our onboarding team about the new customer.

    Access the onboarding form here.

Please note that Inlet requires 14 days of testing before the solution is fully operational.

  4. Instruct customers to book a meeting with Inlet's onboarding team

After you have signed a deal with a new customer, please instruct the customer to book a meeting with our onboarding team.

Customers can book the meeting using this link: https://meetings.hubspot.com/andreas-dovland/onboarding-with-partner

(This step is also described in the onboarding form)

  5. Inlet receives information from the hardware installer

  6. Inlet sends API keys and Lock IDs to the third-party software provider.

  7. The third-party software provider sets up the API keys and Lock IDs in their system.

  8. The solution is ready for testing and use.
