Understanding Firetime in Inlet

Firetime is the base time Inlet uses to decide when an SMS or email is sent. Each message type (e.g. Check-In, Check-Out, Booking Updated, etc) has its own firetime. The default Firetime is "zero", meaning the sms/email is sent at the start base time of the event type. You can then set an offset (positive or negative) to adjust the actual send time relative to that base time.

How Firetime Works

  • Firetime = 0 → Message is sent exactly at the base trigger time.
  • Firetime = -X → Message is sent X minutes before the base time.
  • Firetime = +X → Message is sent X minutes after the base time.
  • Firetime = Set time → Message is sent at the time added (24-hour format)

Example: Check-in SMS

  • Guest check-in time: 19:00
  • Firetime = 0 → SMS sent at 19:00
  • Firetime = -30 → SMS sent at 18:30 (30 minutes before check-in)
  • Firetime = +30 → SMS sent at 19:30 (30 minutes after check-in)
  • Firetime = 09:00 → SMS sent at 09:00 (09:00 the day of check-in)

Example: Using Firetime with Multiple Message Types

  • Welcome SMS at 09:00

    • Set firetime for the “Welcome” SMS type to 09:00.
  • Check-in SMS at 19:00

    • Set firetime to the check-in time (19:00).
    • Adjust with offset if needed (e.g. -420 minutes to send at 12:00 if you want to allow early check-in).
  • Check-out SMS at 15:00
    • Set firetime to the check-out time (19:00).
    • Adjust with offset if needed (e.g. -420 minutes to send at 12:00 if you want to allow early check-in).

Key Takeaways

  • Firetime = base time per message type (check-in time, booking start, or a set time).
  • Offset (+/-) = adjustment relative to that base time.
  • Firetime = Set time: uses the date for check-in or check-out as the base (only works for these two)
  • Works the same for all SMS/Email types.
